The child in you

Back then, when we were kids, everything around us used to make us happy. We were in pure bliss and smile is our second home. What happened now?

To answer this question, we should introspect ourselves a little and a little and yes even a little more. Let's hypnotize ourselves and go back to the age when we were 4. As far as I remember, When I was 4, I used to play with my toys, roam here and there, be with my mom the most and sleep early. That was my vague memory about that. As time passed, every simple thing and moment made me happy. If my mom and I had a good laugh, that made me happy. If I overheard the sound of rain, that made me happy. Every little thing made me “happy”.

I remember my family and me having dinner on the terrace under the moonlight and sleeping there itself under that star-studded sky with a cool breeze carrying the fragrance of jasmine flowers. Those were days!

Early morning sunrise, mom’s lap, bedtime stories. Oh yeah! my grandmom and grandfather used to narrate me beautiful bedtime stories and I still remember imagining the characters from the stories. “Jack and the Beanstalk” is my all-time favorite story and I still feel thrilled about it. These are just some of those beautiful days.

Yes, childhood is a golden period. We cannot get back to that. But let us not forget that little child hidden somewhere within us. Knock that child’s door and call it out with love and with a heart filled with exuberance.

People these days have a very well-defined routine. But after returning home, many of us feel like we lack something in life. Something is gone. If you are wondering what exactly that is, do not worry, you just lost touch with your 4-year-old friend who used to be free and simple.

You need not do anything so difficult to get your friend back. Just wake up the next morning, look around you. Find the little things that make you happy. The fresh sunrise, birds chirping in the morning, walking barefoot on the grass, your people’s smile, your pet waving its tail at you, that book you love and that breath you take! Yes, find happiness in these little things around you. Have blissful conversations with people you love, have a pleasant conversation with yourself, and no matter what your age is, dance, sing, play, and never forget that you are still a kid and it is never too late.

Yeah, you are right! that clock is waiting for you to get on the time machine and go back! Wishing you a Happy journey! :)
